Installation and Setup

Installation of TipTicker on your broadcasting system and initial setup to start using TipTicker.

After downloading TipTicker you need to install the application on your broadcasting system.

Locate the setup file in your downloads folder:

All Versions have a name beginning with TipTicker followed by version numbers.

Double-click on the file to execute the installation routine.

Click on button Yes to start installation.

During installation you will be prompted by some screens.

Welcome screen ...

Accept the License Agreement and click on button next ...

Decide to create a desktop shortcut and/or a Quick Launch shortcut (Windows 7 only) ...

Summary screen, click on button Install ...

After a few seconds the installation is complete, click on button finish.

A TipTicker icon is created on your desktop. Double click on it to start the application.

The above entries will be created in your start menu.

Under folder CMT you will find the following shortcuts:

  • TipTicker (starts TipTicker)
  • TipTicker on the Web (Visit our site)
  • Uninstall TipTicker (removes TipTicker from your system)

Setup has been completed.

After the first start of TipTicker there are some tasks to complete to get it functional:

  1. Register your room (screen name/nickname in Chaturbate)
  2. Edit or select your design (we call it TipTicker Design or TTDesign)

After starting TipTicker it will look like this:

(1) click on the button Register Nicknames ... the following dialog opens:

Here you can enter your nickname/ room name and add it to the list ...

Following is an example:

After entering the nickname and clicking on the button Add it will be moved to the list above.

Here the room name/nickname cammodeltools has been registered.

As long as you have licenses you can add as many nicknames as you like. You need a license for each room name/nickname. During trial you can enter only one room name/nickname.

Clicking on button Save and Exit saves the values entered and closes the screen.

First step completed.

Returning to TipTicker main screen ... you will recognise that the button Register Nicknames is now removed. If it is still there, then you might have forgotten to add you nickname to list. Please try again and follow exactly the steps above.

To continue, select the model name from the drop down list ...

click on button Edit Design ...

The two first tabs are essential to visit to get a working design.

  • Settings of message lines
  • Edit tip timings

The first tab is activated automatically, so we start with this first. It is tab Settings of Message lines ...

We did the following settings:

  1. Horizontal position of TipLine
  2. Starting Text
  3. Middle Text
  4. Trailing Text

Click on button Save (5)

All other settings will be explained in depth in the Designer Manual

In the next step we activate the Tab Edit Tip Timings ...

You will see an empty grid with one line to enter values. As soon as you enter one line, the next one will be added automatically.

The grid has 4 essential coloumns to enter values:

  1. Name
  2. LowVal (lower value)
  3. HighVal (upper value)
  4. Timing (in seconds)

After filling the cells with valid values ...

... it looks like this. We have entered the name all (doesn't matter, just enter something meaningful).

This range covers tip ranges from 1 token up to 999,999 tokens, so it covers pretty most situations.

Finally we have configured 5 seconds for showing the tip message line.

To end entering values simply click on the button Save

There are no limits for entering ranges. But keep in mind, that these values only control the duration of the tip message lines.

Showing images is not controlled here and will be explained in the Designer manual.

If your setting are ok, then click on the button Save all Changes. If you accidentially made changes and want to repair them, simply click on button Discard all Changes

If the changes are ok we click on Save all Changes ...

Finally close the Designer screen by clicking on the X-Button in the upper right corner ...

Returning to the TipTick main screen, we will see the following situation:

TipTicker has now gathered all needed information and started the internal webserver. Now we are able to test our settings and design.

For this we can visit the internal website by clicking on the link labeled "Link to embed in Broadcasting System:"

If we move the mouse cursor to this link, it changes its shape and we get some contextual help:

Clicking on this link opens it in your default browser. Right-clicking on the link copies it to the clipboard. This is helpful for setting up your broadcasting system with a browser source.

The name localhost means that this server is running on your local system. No services from our site or other services are needed!

Basic setup is now completed. You are now able to test it and experiment with different settings.

Don't be shy, give it a try!

There is an easy and convenient way to add one or more images to your TTDesign:

From the main menu of TipTicker select item "Easy Add Image to Design".

The Easy-Add-Image-Wizard will guide you through the process of adding images to your TTDesign.

Click on button Add Image ...

The following file dialog will help you to navigate through your folder structure. Because you might have stored some images found in Internet, it starts in your Downloads folder ...

You can navigate to every location on your PC or network to find the desired image.

TipTicker delivers some sample pictures within its setup. You will find these in your Documents folder. The images are collected in the folder samplepics.

We selected Speech_bubble.png ...

You can check if you have selected the right picture in the preview aerea of the wizard.

Click on button Next ...

Now you are able to set:

  1. Position on stream
  2. Opacitiy
  3. Tip range
  4. Timing (in milli seconds)

In this example we show a speech bubble on the top-left corner of  the stream, it has an opacity of 0.5 - so the background is somewhat shimmering through, the show-up of the image will happen if someone tips an amount between 1 and 14 tokens.

Click on button Save and add next ...

Now you can decide if you want to (1) add  another image or if you want to (2) exit the wizard.

If you click the button Exit, you will be able to save the changes (Yes), discard the changes (No) or (Cancel) to return to the wizard.

Exit dialog ...

In Designer screen you can check the result of the work of the wizard:

In tab "Edit Events" you will find the following settings:

  1. A new entry in the dropdown "Name of Event"
  2. A Tip Rule
  3. Lower Tip amount
  4. Upper Tip amount
  5. Show Timer

You are free to adjust and fine tune all values to your liking.

In Tab "Edit Images" you can inspect some other aspects of settings made by the wizard:

  1. Name of the resulting Image file in the home directory of the integrated webserver (this value can't be changed and is essential for the functionality.
  2. The position of the image in stream
  3. The Opacity
  4. Horizontal offset (here, how many pixels from the left border of the stream ... e.g. 10 pixels)
  5. Vertical offset (here, how many pixels from the top border of the stream ... e.g. 10 pixels)
  6. Event Trigger (see the name of the event in the tab Edit Events)
  7. A preview of the image

Now you will be able to easily add images and adjust the settings afterwards.
